This post begins the series "m i s c o n c e p t i o n" .  Each blog post will briefly explain the reasoning behind my inspiration and stylistic choices for certain projects.  This post will primarily discuss the superficial qualities of the design, attempting to give a little insight into the intrinsic relationship between aesthetics, nostalgia, and psyche.

This inspiration board (a board with inspirational images that depict the overall mood and hints at the aesthetic of a space)  was created for a client living in Texas as a re-design of their second living room/ parlor (Project was started this earlier this year has been proposed and will begin construction and design later this year).  The client is an older man who was in his 30's during the 50's and 60's.  During this time he remembered the fond times he and his wife shared throwing cocktail parties in their home and longed to revisit the nature and ambiance of these events.  While he only throws parties once a year now, he still uses the room quite a bit for other purposes, mainly reading and speaking with guests.  After speaking with me the, we came to the conclusion to do a modern representation of the glamorous style associated with this era.  The images primarily show the influence old films will have on certain aspects of the space (color, fabric, mood, etc) and hints at the representation of the "Chinoiserie and Japonaiserie"  style.
